Service Types are predefined categories and subcategories of services (for example Nails - French manicure, Haircuts & Styling - Woman’s Haircut) that will appear as search suggestions when your potential clients type a name of the service they’re looking for on the Booksy marketplace. To put it simply, if you assign Service Types to your services, you’ll appear in Booksy search results more often and clients will be more likely to find you and book with you. On the other hand, if you don’t assign them, your visibility in the marketplace search will be limited. Service Types won’t be visible on your Booksy Profile but that doesn’t make them any less important!

Want to check how search suggestions work? 

Start typing a service name on booksy.com or in the Booksy for Customers app and see what search suggestions pop-up. Your Profile will appear in the search results based on the Service Types you’ve chosen. That’s why it’s so important that you assign one of the Service Types to each of your existing and new services during onboarding or later on in service settings.

To assign a Service Type:

1. Head over to Business Settings (mobile: Profile Settings).
2. Go to Services Setup.
3. Go to Services & Combo Services.
4. Select an existing or create a new service. 
5. Select a Service Type from the drop-down menu. For each service you can assign only one Service Type.
   Tip: You can either choose one of the Suggested Service Types that are based on the service name or pick one from the All Service Types list below. 

And that’s it! Your Service Type assignments will update in Booksy Biz immediately and will start showing up in client searches on the Booksy for Customers app and booksy.com in a couple of days.
